| 589 | The Queen | Stephen Frears | Peter Morgan | PG-13 | 2006 | Miramax | Drama |
The Queen Stephen FrearsRated: PG-13 Writer: Peter Morgan Date Added: 02 мая 2007 Languages: Russian, English Subtitles: English, Spanish Sound: Stereo Picture Format: Widescreen Comments: Tradition Prepared Her. Change Will Define Her. Summary: Winner of the Academy Award® for Best Actress, Dame Helen Mirren gives a spellbinding performance in THE QUEEN, the provocative story behind one of the most public tragedies of our time the sudden death of Princess Diana. In the wake of Diana's death, the very private and tradition-bound Queen Elizabeth II (Mirren) finds herself in conflict with the new Prime Minister, the slickly modern and image-conscious Tony Blair. THE QUEEN, also starring Academy Award® Nominee James Cromwell (Best Supporting Actor, BABE, 1995), takes you inside the private chambers of the Royal Family and the British government for a captivating look at a vulnerable human being in her darkest hour, as a nation grieving for its People's Princess waits to see what its leaders will do. Suspenseful, heartfelt and riveting, it's a fascinating story you won't soon forget.

| 590 | Queen: The Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert | David Mallet, , | 1992 | Capitol | Music | ||
Queen: The Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert David Mallet, ,Rated: Date Added: 09 апр. 2005 Sound: Stereo Summary: This review is a rehash of most of the other reviews, but I'll echo the general sentiments: this is one of the best benefit-type concerts ever staged, incredible sound quality, great visuals, fine musicianship, and the like. If you're a big Queen fan it's a must-have DVD. But there's no question the "double DVD" labeling gives you the impression it's the whole concert unabridged, which it isn't -- it's only the last half of the concert with the surviving Queen members. Omitted where mostly three-songs sets by Def Leppard, Metallica, Extreme and GnR. And these were tremendous sets. A real shame they didn't include them on the second DVD. I hope Bryan May, Roger Taylor and John Deacon fix this.

| 591 | Queer Duck | Xeth Feinberg | Mike Reiss | NR | 2006 | Paramount | Comedy |
Queer Duck Xeth FeinbergRated: NR Writer: Mike Reiss Date Added: 14 авг. 2007 Picture Format: Widescreen Comments: He can't even fly straight! Summary: "Queer Duck: The Movie" is the relentlessly funny, feature-length extension of the animated series "Queer Duck", created by frequent "The Simpsons" scripter Mike Reiss. Sexually scandalous yet sweet, the movie is a cascade of pop-culture stereotypes of gays in America, punctuated by rapid-fire references (as with "The Simpsons") to, well, just about everything: classic movies, game shows, Gilbert and Sullivan, Paul Lynde. Hey, there's even a storyline: Queer Duck (voiced by Jim J. Bullock) and his partner of 18 months ("That's a lifetime in gay years"), Harvey Fierstein sound-alike Stephen Arlo "Openly" Gator (Kevin Michael Richardson), hit a relationship crisis when the fey fowl is wooed by a brassy Broadway broad. Queer Duck wonders if he'd be happier being straight. While Gator the waiter spills his problems to a compassionate Conan O'Brien (thanks for the cameo), Queer Duck goes on a personal odyssey that ultimately leads to a showdown with a television evangelist at a theme park re-christened Fairyland. One has to see it to believe it. With supporting vocal performances from Mark Hamill, Tim Curry, Estelle Harris, and Maurice LaMarche. "--Tom Keogh"

| 592 | Quite Interesting | Suitable for 15 years and over | 2003 | BBC | TV Show | ||
Quite InterestingRated: Suitable for 15 years and over Date Added: 14 авг. 2007 Sound: Stereo Picture Format: Widescreen Summary: In South Africa, we don't get QI, which is a terrible pity, because it is the best show I have ever seen. The banter among the panelists is hilarious. Above all, the show is interesting - unusual for something that is simultaneously this entertaining. The show makes it acceptable, and even desirable to be intelligent, and to know things, which is a welcome change, when everyone else seems to be dumbing down to lowest common denominator entertainment. I hope they bring out DVDs of the subsequent series, and I will definitely buy them as soon as they become available. I cannot recommend this DVD highly enough: everyone ought to see it.
